Re: Tivoli Tavern in Las Vegas: Info?

Don,

No, there's no maps in the old phone books. Checking out the Arizona Club (and Arizona Hotel) and the Arcade...which were in block 16, the addresses were in the 200 block.

I found 2 different maps with indications of block 16...unfortunately, they didn't quite agree on where it was!! sad One map shows it bordered by Main, First, Stewart and Ogden. The other (probably the correct one...looks like a plat map) shows it bordered by First, Second, Stewart and Ogden.

What made me think this could be the same Tivoli is the phone number of 396. I'm assuming a 3 digit number was an early one, by 1944 many of the phone numbers were 4 digits or 4 digits with a letter. For example, The White Spot Cafe was open 1932-1951 (per TGT), their phone number in 1944 was 565.

shoot....just saw the listing for the Pioneer Club which opened in 1942 (I think, or maybe 1941) and their phone number was 583. So much for that theory...oh well...
