And who you calling shifty? Antony literally "made" my Bahamas visit. Diane and I went shopping downtown Nassau with Belinda and Phil Hixon. As we were all discussing heading for the Atlantis Casino, Antony walked up and offered his services. On the way to the casino, I asked Antony about pirates. He immediately went into "tour guide" mode, and talked nonstop about what was around us all the way. Not long at the casino, I was thinking we'd be having a much better time riding around Nassau with Antony.

When Diane and I were ready to head back to town, we went out to the taxi stand where we were directed to a van. The lady driver was in some heated discussion with four potential passengers, and I decided we didn't need to get in the middle of that, so we turned around to head back to the taxi stand. There was Antony, unloading a fare! "Take us back to town?" "You bet!"

After some discussion about how much he might make in an hour running back and forth between town and the casino at $4 a head, I offered him $100 to "show us a good time" for the next hour or so. Heck, I'd lost that much plus in 7 hands at a $15 blackjack table, then won it back plus $40 at a $10 table. I was feeling rich!

And Antony definitely showed us a good time! He drove us all over the island for an hour and a half, showing us the haves, the have nots, and the wanna bes. He's the same age as me, and has been around the world. We talked about the political climate in Nassau for the last 50 years, and lots of other topics. It really was the best hour and a half of the whole cruise.
