You could well argue that your 1) is driven by the first part of 3) and 2) by the second part.

Make no bones - whatever impression you get of UK politicians we have 3 preety much 'un-electable' choices here - borne out by the drop in voting turnout from 70% in the days of Herr Thatcher to 29% in last election.
