... that should make it clear what the current policy is doing Gene:

It's the same as if you as an individual decided to put more money in the pockets of your employers by voluntarily taking a cut in pay. But, you then not only didn't reduce your expenses, you increased your spending by running up a huge credit card debt.

The national debt is now well in excess of $7 trillion (that is to say, it is nearly $25,000 for each person in the country today.

So, for you and I to have some extra money in our pockets today, our children and grandchildren will be picking up the tab for decades. It is disgraceful the way politicians of both parties act with respect to public finances at every level of government.

I have said as much here many times before. I hope Kerry wins (only because I think Bush is one of the three worst presidents of the last 100 years -- Nixon and Harding being the others). California appears to be a "safe" Kerry state, so I will probably get to vote my conscience.
