I am in the process of trying to go to wireless hi-speed internet through Comcast. I am using a Comcast (Motorola) modem and Netgear router and Netgear USB adapter. The problem is I can not register the modem without first hard cabling it to my computer which is two floors above the modem. This was the reason for going wireless in the first place, I do not want to run a cable through the house. Finally, I have an Appt for Friday morning to have a Comcast Tech come with a laptop and register the modem in the basement. This is going to cost me another $50!!. Bottom line is, you can not self install a wireless setup unless you have a laptop to take to the modem or you have a cable outlet at the desktop location and if you have that already then why go wireless?? It took several calls to Comcast before I got the correct info. Murphy's Law is alive and well. Anyone experience similar problems??
