Ahhh Elementry My dear Watson!

... Even I have posted the answer to that question before! grin

In the 1930's era when the huge denominations were issued a hundred dollars was a fortune and now it is almost pocket change. The reason is simple no credit cards in the 30's people were on a cash basis and large transactions (buying a house or big ticket item) often needed large denomination notes.

Today the BEP has researched our spending habits and found we seldom spend over $40 cash. If it is over $40 we write a check, pull out a credit or debit card so the need for larger denomination notes are not needed. ALSO drug trafficing is a factor, as well as increased risk in crime if you are thought to be carring large denominations. People cary very little cash these days (I know I do- I'm always BROKE! grin )

And for one million dollars: THAT'S MY FINAL ANSWER!
