Re: sad One Thing In TCR #10 Troubled Us, Too.

We went around and around on this point. We wanted to show the people that are having chips repaired or altered, that the increase won't be anywhere near what they anticipate. Most chips that are rare and valued 1000.00 or more undrilled, are worth about 100.00 or so drilled. Most of us can't tell the difference between the repaired chip and the unaltered one, so by making the altered chip have a value only 25.00 more, should make collectors think twice about having chips altered. We are "throwing the dog a bone" by letting them get back the 25.00 that they paid someone to repair their chip. We also want buyers to think really hard before paying lots of cash for any chip that is known to have some of its chips cancelled, either by drilling , notching or overstamping. It wasn't an easy issue to handle and we knew that we would be taking flak, no matter how we did it. The important thing was to do SOMETHING and to make collectors aware of what is happening to our hobby, due to some very greedy and unscrupulous people.
