You guys might already know the procedures in handling a bill acceptor malfunction. I wished someone would have told me the outcome before I became a victim to a faulty bill acceptor.

The next time you stick that TITO slip into a slot/video poker machine you might want to rethink that idea before you do it. Last night I found out firsthand on what happens if your machine doesn’t register when you insert a ticket.

I walked up a video poker machine and inserted my $70 ticket into the bill acceptor. The ticket went in and I didn’t get any credits on the machine.

The little light came on above the machine and I had to wait until the first level slot attendant showed up. I explained to the attendant what happened and he opened up the machine and looked to see if the ticket had got stuck in the bill acceptor. The ticket was not in the acceptor so the slot technician was called over.

A few minutes later the technician come over looks at the machine and says he can’t do anything because the ticket is in the soft count box.

Next the slot supervisor is called to take a look at the machine. The slot supervisor makes it over, looks at the machine and explains that this doesn’t happen too often.

The slot technician is call over again and the 3 individuals (slot attendant, slot technician, and the slot supervisor) discuss the possible options the get my money back.

It is decided the only thing to do is wait until the box is pulled and sent to the soft count room (which might take up to 72 hours). After the soft count is done, then they will contact accounting department and accounting department would then work on the paperwork to cut me a check. It may take up to 2 – 3 weeks before I see a check.

So I’m out $70 and 30 – 45 minutes of time waiting for slot machine personal to show up assess the problem.

So the next time you think about inserting a higher dollar TITO into a bill acceptor, you might not see you money for a few weeks.
