Re: How do you keep track of your chips?

Hi Andy,

I've been keeping my chips listed in MS Word documents. It started out as one file then I had to start splitting it up a bit.

I now have it in 5 files by casino name... A-F, G-M, N-Z. I had to split these becasue it got to slow opening the files (I'm going to set up a new PC later this month, so I may be able to combine them).

The last 2 files are for my traders and want list. These file are also saved as html, so they can be sent out and easily read by other people without MS Word.

I don't know if you're familiar with Word but I felt it was easier to use (and I think smaller files) than keeping it in a spreadsheet.

I defined a table so it's easy if I want to re-sort the information. I don't keep as much data as some people... Casino name, city, state, year, denomination, date purchased and a description of the graphic or hot stamp. I collect by topic and this description can help me find the actual chip in the binder.

I also keep a printout of the auction or email relating to the purchase of the chip. Using the date purchased, I can easily find out the orginal price or who I bought it from.

My binders are broken up into topics with an extra binder for my traders.

I hope that helps a bit.
