Re: Memories!

The offline reader was great, if people installed it. grin I'd dial in, watch the computer chug along, and log off again. Then read and write messages and call again.

But you sure hit it with Slooooow. Even though I had HST 9600 modems, dial up services were 1200 and finally 2400.

I think it's Andy who saved some of the old message bases. I'm sure I have a hard drive on the shelf with old prodigy messages on it somwhere. (kind of like everything else around here, "it's somewhere?")

I found the club because of an article in Casino Player Magazine 1993 Spring. I don't know how I found Prodigy, but I was running a local BB and had memberships to CIS, Easylink, and two more before I joined Prodigy and dropped all the others.

Before the Internet, each system stood alone. Even mail, aside from Fidonet, didn't transfer from system to system. eBay didn't come along for another five years. AOL didn't exist... Prodigy was the chippers hot spot.

So much for the good old days, because ten years from now, Greg's the Chipboard will be "the good old days" vbg Hopefully we will all be here reflecting on it.
