Re: What are considered "generic" chips?

In my humble opinion, not all chips in Dale's book which are referred to as generic are, in fact, generic.

Take the eagle with snake PB-ES chip:

This chip was delivered to a distributor in El Paso, TX in 1923. Gambling was illegal in El Paso but was legal right across the river in Juarez, Mexico. The eagle with snake landing on a cactus is pictured on the Mexican flag. I think it's pretty obvious that this is a Mexican club. I just wish I could identify which club. I know there was a Monte Carlo Gambling Hall in Juarez. Then again there were many bars with slot machines (Cafe Mint, Gem Bar, Central Cafe, Saint Louis Bar)

Then there is a chip like the tiger PA-UT:

This may be a generic chip but, as far as I know, it is the only one known. I would think that there would be more found of this chip if it was sold "over the counter"
