Re: I'm kinda in the same boat as you...

I too am not a big fan of reserve auctions. They tend to keep me away more often also. However, as someone else mentioned earlier, if the item is truely something special I might try.

I have a question though about how reserve works. If you have a chip up at $5.99 and a Reserve of $15 on it. and I come in and bid $12.50, I don't seem to recall that my max bid will advance to my $12.50 unless someone comes in to bid against me. Is that just because I didnt' bid $15? Am I mistaken about that? If I were to have bid over the reserve would I have been credited as a high bidder. I just seem to recall placing bids on Reserve auctions where the full value of my bid was never extended.

Lastly, I have a bunch of stuff that I have thought of putting up from time to time. When a new chip comes out that I like I try to buy a few extras. Also I tend to "Rescue" many chips from the tables while playing. I have found LEs at RIO, Luxor, HR, Orleans and a few other places while playing. I also bottom fish sometimes on eBay and see what I can snatch up for a decent price and hold on to hold for a short bit before reselling. Sometimes I can slip in when others aren't paying attention. I know that there are a few things that turn me off to auctions. Poor discriptions, High Shipping, Bad or No Photos, Low Feedback and history on a new seller and so on. I personally have a good feedback as a buyer. I believe it is %100. However I only have 73. That is probably a low number for over 3 years. Thus I am afraid of putting items up some of my valuable items up for fear that with my low history I might not truely get the attention to my auctions that the merchandise is worthy of and end up having to sell at a loss or at least not the true potential. All the work of listing, packaging, delivering to the post office and mailing, photographing etc. for maybe a dollar profit if I am lucky?

My plan this far is that I want to go out and try and find some stuff to sell. For the sake of selling stuff. Of course be a little selective based on potential for demand of course. But not necessarilly looking for special or valuable items. I figure by selling those things if I don't go over board buying them I could make a little bit of return while actually getting more value out of building up reputation or feedback history.

Thanks for addressing all of my and other peoples questions. I am picking up quite a bit here.
