Sheldon... I think your confusion is stemming from the fact that you're used to the way bids are displayed on Japckot Auctions... where with a single proxy bid, each underbid SEEMS to generate a separate bid by the proxy.

On eBay, a single bid is a single bid is a single bid. It appears only once, since only a single bid was made, and the incremental increases in the proxy bid's "high bid" are not reflected.

As an example, on eBay, if on an item that starts at $9.95 I make a proxy bid of $100, my "high bid" will appear as $9.95. If someone then enters a bid of $15.00, my "high bid" will appear as $15.50, and a total of 2 bids will appear (and in fact only two have been made), with my proxy bid on top (as I still have the highest bid), and the underbid on the bottom. The underbids will continue to collect beneath my proxy bid until someone bids over $100.

In the same scenario on Jackpot, my $100 proxy bid will appear as a $9.95 "opening bid". If someone then bids $15.00, another bid will be generated by my proxy with the same timestamp as the underbid, at $15.50, giving the illusion that I have made a second bid.
