Barry,
Just hold the half of the airtite with the chip in it in one hand. Then use a pair of pliers with the other hand securing the lip of the airtite & break the airtite away from the chip. I did it to a couple of chips & never had a problem. Once you get the 40.6mm airtites you'll never have to worry about that again! Andy - Las Vegas
