Every corporation has it's own rules governing charitible donations. I receive requests every week, in written and verbal form, for donations. I pass on the corporate address to the person(s) making the requests. These requests range from cash to merchandise, in varying amounts. I treat all of the requests the same. For tax purposes, the corporate offices must be able to keep track of all donations, what a nightmare it would be to keep up with over 7500 stores!

At the store level, you can't pick and choose who you donate to, once you give to one group, you would obligated to give to all or you would subject to a discrimniation suit, therefore the corporate offices have already set up the proper channels for donation giving.

From your post, Target gives away 2 million a week, that's 104 million a year(mostly to schools)....hmmm...that sounds like a good corporate citizen to me, I say get off their backs!
