I carry my chips in a roll around type carry-on bag. I would never consider checking them as luggage - you would probably never see them again. I think I overdue it a little since my carry-on goes around 80 pounds. I always tell the security guy that there are casino chips in the bag. If you don't do this they get a little paranoid since they look like sticks of dynamite to the scanner. You will probably have to open up your bag anyway but it is not a big deal. It is a small price to pay for being able to trade face for face for that chip that you just hafta have.
