Heres a few reasons
In Response To: Copying Chip Scans ()

Although I don't personally mind if people use my scans, I know many do. Heres a few thoughts that many people will defend. Mind you , these are not my words...I'm just giving you examples.

* I took the time to make the scan, adjusting the position so that it is straight, picking through a ton of chips to pick out the best condition, and I scaned it just right way so that it was real clear but yet not a large file size. Why shouldn't i get perturbed when someone just takes the lazy way out and just takes it.

* It drives me crazy when I spend hours of time scanning and then the very same scans show up on another persons websites without any sort of ackowledgement to me. After all, I'm the one that spent all the time doing it.

* Where do they get off taking the scan from my Ebaby auction of my chip, and using it on their Ebaby auction!

These are only a few of the setiments you'll hear. I find the best thing to do if in doubt is to just give common courtesy and ask. You'll find that the far majority of people here won't mind at all if you use their scans for personal use, if you just ask.

You'll find the very same thing with website features, functions and code. There are some very generous people here that would be more then willing to share. And the last thing you would want to do is alienate someone for such a simple thing.

Ive experienced the generosity here first hand from my very first visit. And everyone like to be asked. I'm sure most will happily say yes.
