One moment of 9/11 keeps coming back to me. When #2 WTC came down, I was approaching Broadway near Battery Park. I had been watching the towers burn from Greenich Street (which gives a direct view of #2 WTC).

Initially I did not move as the smoke and ash filled tumbleweed barrelled down Broadway. I hate to admit it but I'm the type that stops to watch a crash. What I'll never forget is the sight of a pregnant woman (must have been at least 8 months) waddling towards me as fast as she could, both arms holding her belly, hysterically screaming. She like everyone else near me were making a mad dash to the Staten Island Ferry.

I don't know why I keep remembering that scene (even more so than the jumpers). It must have been the sheer horror she showed.
