I highly recommend keeping them in a single database and in a single table within the database. Once you get the hang of it, it will be easy to write queries to separate the chips into groups, but much more difficult to combine them from separate tables (or databases) into a single report (ie: chip list).

For example, you might someday want to make a listing of your chips by mold, or seller, or in descending order of price paid, or something other than state or chip type. If they're in separate databases this will be a big chore. Trust me on this!
