First off your question assumes certain facts.
1. You assume that a person who is defending an accused criminal is taking sides with the bad guys. That assumption is not necessarily true.

2. You assume that the defense of the accuse faults the innocent.

3. You assume that those who defend people accused of crimes have never been victims of crimes. It simply isn't true and you have no basis for that assumption.

Your suggestion is that those who would defend accused criminals are those who defend the forces of evil. Quite to the contrary, WE are defending the process of justice.

Beyond that, many GOOD people find themselves in the criminal justice system.
