INDIANA CLOBBERS CASINO OVER HOOKERS
Pinnacle Entertainment's Belterra Casino in rural Indiana was fined $2.26 million for having hired prostitutes to entertain high rollers at a golf tournament last year. The Indiana Gaming Commission also directed that the casino's license be suspended for 66 hours in October, when the average daily win is expected to be about $245,000. The casino will still have to pay taxes on the foregone revenue and pay employees for the period. Belterra was accused of having flown between eight and 10 women in from California on a company aircraft at the June 2001 golf outing. It was the largest fine ever levied by Indiana regulators against a casino.
