Never had known why this game disappeared or when the very last game was played in a Vegas casino. There are always Pan chips available to purchase and apparently many games were being dealt in Vegas at one time. I ran across this article the other day from Jack Cortez' Fabulous Las Vegas magazine, January 21, 1967 in his column "That's for Sure":
"At the Sahara Pan Room, Rudy Lauber told us that the Christmas and New Year's weekends found customers waiting 4-5 hours to get a seat in a game. They have 12 Pan tables in action and Rudy claims he's going to try to talk Johnny Hughes into adding 30 or 40 more for the next holidays, out in the parking lot (weather permitting). Counting the waiting list for four days alone, Rudy came up with 971 people lined up for Pan seats. Must be something to this game!"
Several questions other than "what happened to the game"? 1. Wonder if they ever did put 30-40 tables in the parking lot? 2. Was Johnny Hughes the GM or the casino mgr? 3. Was he related to Andy?
