Yes, Don is correct in the above post, as I was, I gather, in my post.
For about $4.00 the Post Office says you can put anything-any weight into their special flat rate flat envelopes. But not so. I fit two of those standard old 100-chip capacity carboard chip boxes into such an envelope, and the flap closed over the lip, and even the self-seal flap went over the opposing lip to "seal" the envelope. But I felt Ineeded more sealing strength, so I put a few small pieces of my own clear tape on the outside of the envelope to reinforce the sealing, AND THE POST OFFICE (IN BROOKLYN) REFUSED TO ALLOW THE BARGAIN-STATED $4 (OR SO) RATE, AND CHARGED ME THE FULL $8 OR SO AS THOUGH IT WERE ANY NORMAL HEAVY PACKAGE. To repeat, they won't allow me to reinforce their own flat envelope.
