Re: Speaking of Housekeepers
In Response To: Speaking of Housekeepers ()

Interesting points. I wasn't aware of some of what you say. I have always left a tip at the end and put it on the dresser in an obvous way. Where I have stayed it has always seemed to be the same person or persons every day. Thinking of the arguements that have been brought up by this strike the hotel I usually stay at probably has about 30 rooms on a floor. That would probably mean about 2 housekeepers per floor. That, in fact, seems consistant as there are usually 2 carts in the hall starting at about 7:30am until about 5:00pm.

Anyways, I am going to print your post out and give it to my friends as we leave in a few weeks. I, personally, have been very appreciative of the service that the Housekeepers have provided and want to be fair. I will admit, I haven't really known what was fair though. Just for curiousity, what do others consider as reasonable tips for the Housekeepers. Based on your post, that would be PER DAY.

Also, on a similar topic, I was just thinking of this today, by coincidence. Who do you tip when you get a hand pay and how much do you tip them. Unfortunately I haven't had many of them and the few that I have gotten, the attendantS have paid me and left before I could even offer a tip. I have felt bad about that. Maybe they just assumed that I looked like a non-tipper? Incidentally, every time I have received a hand pay there were 2 or 3 people involved. Like I said before, Who do I tip? Is there one in perticular or both or all three?

Thanks for the Info.
