I practice in South Dakota; Workman's Comp laws were such that if an accident involving a business truck happened on the Minnesota/S.D. border, the injured driver would flag down cars and help him move the truck across the state line into Minnesota. We used to have a $10,000 cap on wrongful death actions so that if a small child or a corporate executive died on our roads, we lawyers could get $10,000 for either of them (before our fees, of course).
