Re: Daring Card Room robbery
In Response To: Daring Card Room robbery ()

Hi Paul,

Here's the text of the article from the April 18th Daily New of Los Angeles:

ROSAMOND - Kern County sheriff's investigators Wednesday asked for the public's help in identifying three gunmen who held up a casino in a takeover robbery.
Investigators say they have few leads to go on from the weekend robbery of Diamond Jim's, a poker and blackjack casino just off the Antelope Valley Freeway (14) north of the Los Angeles County line, and are hoping that someone will have "workable" information.
"We're following up a few leads but have nothing as of yet," said sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Niccoli. Twelve patrons were robbed of their cash and cellular phones and the casino was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash in the 2:40 a.m. Monday holdup.
The robbers, all masked and wearing dark clothing, were armed with handguns and a rifle, officials said.
The gunmen ordered staff and patrons to the center of the casino and went from person to person demanding money and cellular phones, deputies said. The gunmen then went to the casino's "cage" area, where they grabbed more money.
The robbers fled on foot and no one was injured in the incident, officials said.
One patron, who asked not to be named, said he didn't get a good look at the robbers because he was trying not to look at them. He said he thought they were armed with assault rifles and a shotgun.
The patron said the robbery was frightening and the casino needs more security.
"They should have an armed guard," he said. "I don't want to get killed just because I like to play poker."
All three were described as African-American men with thin builds. One man was about 6 feet 2 inches tall and the other two are about 6 feet 1 inch tall, deputies said.
Anyone with information on the robbers' identity or their whereabouts is asked to call Senior Deputy Brian Elliot at the Rosamond Sheriff's Station at (661) 256-2511.
