Re: What If Doug Saito Were A Slabber?

Sorry I misunderstood the question Pete ... but my polite response basically remains the same.*g*

When Joe Six-pack submits a coin or a chip to a 3rd party grading firm ... there is no guarantee which employee will be assigned to do the grading.

Let's suppose for the purpose of this discussion Doug did in fact agree to become a grader for XYZ Chip Certification Service ... and Doug decided to terminate his employment agreement a month after he started.

Did XYZ company have unquestionable credibility before Doug was there? Do they still have unquestionable credibility after Doug left (hypothetically of course)?

When one purchases or is offered a slabbed chip or coin, the company is the one whose reputation is on the line... not the individual grader(s) who happen to be working at the company at that time. That's why grading is so inconsistent. It varies from grader to grader... and graders come and go. Personally speaking, I like to know who I'm buying my valuable chips from based on their individual reputation and knowledge... and mine.
