Roulette Night in Ohio

If you like roulette you may get a charge out of this. Just want to share what has becom a ritual here at the house over the last two years.

I purchased a beautiful 32" roulette wheel that once belonged to the Sands Casino in AC. Picked it up on e-bay for $2500 ( I was the only bidder.)

Next had a custom oak 7 foot table built by a local fellow that makes custom built pool tables.
He was very excited about this project as he had never had a request for anything quite like this.

I then picked up 2000 roulette chips ( 200 of ten different colours) from a local guy. This fellow has a company called Five Star Dealer, you will see him on e-bay under (casino chips) daily. These were 10.5 gram chips so they are casino quality.

Now the fun part. Every 6 to 8 weeks we have roulette night. About 8 of us get together in the game room and for the next few hours it's Vegas in Ohio.

Here's how it works...each player puts $300 into the bank. For this each player is given 150 chips.
We play two rounds. First we play 15 spins of the wheel, recording each number and colour that comes up. We then break for dinner ( my wife is the greatest cook) and spend most of dinner bragging or pouting about our fortunes to this point of the night. After dinner we resume for round two. Fifteen more spins for a total of 30, the 30th spin is madness as everyone is trying for one big hit, so the table is blanketed with chips. It's like the grand finale' at a fireworks display.

At he end of the 30th spin, eveyone counts their chips and is paid from the bank. Once everyone has been paid we then total the remaining money in the bank and divide it between all the players. So even if you end up with no chips at the end to cash in, you know you will still share in the bank. And of course we all know the bank always wins, so there is always plenty to be shared.

Rules:

1) Minimum bet....$5
2) Maximum bet on a straight up number...$5

( we can't have someone putting $75 on number

7, and spoiling dinner for the host )
3) No alcohol
4) No food or drinks at the table
5) You may reach into your wallet ( purse ) at

any time to buy more chips.
6) Have fun, lot's of fun, and nobody invited

that get's to serious or intense. This is not

about gambling, it's about getting together

with friends and laughing and ribbing each

other.

One final note ( maybe two ) I have actually had
someone walk away from the table with a $5 Gold Mine Chip (some friends, huh?) I did purchase on e-bay some sets of chips in $1 $5 $25 and $100 value for helping in payouts during the game.

Largest winners...Over a period of 19 total sessions we have had about about 7 different players win $200 to $250. Biggest losers...that would be me -$227 once and -$201 once. Most players win or lose in the $40 to $60 range on any given night.

That's all...just thought I would share this in the event someone out on the chipboard might find it interesting.

BTW...You are all invited, any time just call ahead so I can tell Carole how many to expect for dinner.
