Re: Pete speaking of Prodigy have you had....

For better tech support there are two BBs on Prodigy that have board members that will answer questions.

No I don't have connection problems. I usually dial in at about 9 AM each day and stay connected until afternoon. I use DUNS (dialup networking) to phone Prodigy and then click on Netscape (or IE) to bring the information up. Although it's not commonly mentioned, using DUNS has solved many problems for me.

I don't want to fill this BB with Prodigy messages. But Rick you should check your local numbers. You might have new service dial-ups or better connections.

Prodigy does not own the network connections. They just lease them from people like Splitrock or McLeod USA, just like every other ISP. In some areas the same numbers were used for Prodigy as well as Juno and Netzero. (free services) It was causing connection problems, so Prodigy demanded exclusive numbers. If you are calling an old number that might be the problem.

All services have outages from time to time, but yours sounds like an individual problem. I don't understand why disconnecting, intentionally or by accident would prevent you from calling again. I have a second system that I enter and exit IE and Netscape or WSFTP without hanging up. When I do, it's no problem dialing in again.

Try the help BBs on Prodigy. The folks there are not reading from a help script and actually have their own computers. lol ;-)

As for the forwarding mail from old accounts, I agree that it will cut the spam down about 30-60% and I welcome it. grin
