Re: New Chapter Starting up! The "Freedom Chapter"

(1)I have spoken to several people who joined your list simply because they wanted to continue to be treated favorably by the "ringleaders" whom they have bought from in the past. This in and of itself is forcing one to make a dicision that they do not 100% agree with.

Excuse me. Reread what you just wrote. Was there any threat made. No. If someone decides to sign the list because they think it will get them favorable treatment how is this forcing them to make a decision?

(2) If the list and the club are 2 different things then why is the list the first thing on the slabfree site?

The club has a page on the SlabFree.com site SlabFree.com is not owned by the club, the owner generously donated space to the club on his website where he hosts other Anti-Slab material including the list.

(3) Do not call someone a lier without proof. (a) My statement was buy the chip not the holder it is in: This means give no concern to the holder but only to the chip that you need for your collection.

Your own words were the proof. You stated that a tenet of your "Chapter" is that you buy the chip not the holder or slab. You say that this means "This means give no concern to the holder but only to the chip that you need for your collection." Yet you buy chips and then pay to have them slabbed. How is that showing no concern for the slab you are actually going out of your way and paying to have it done. Oh I get it, this particular rule applies to people buying retail not to you.

(b) When the value was derived for the chip at $1200.00 The 1st edition of the chip guide was all of the reference I had. I have since learned that a new edition has been released.

Oh, I'm sorry, all this time you have been holding yourself out as an expert and you weren't even aware of the fact that there was a second edition of the book out. In a hobby with basically 2 price guides (for Nevada Chips) it isn't terribly hard to keep up with the current editions.

(4) People keep harping on the fact that lessor value chips are in holders.

Actually we are talking about them being slabbed not just placed in holders. We only harp on this because it was the Slabbing supporters who repeatedly assured us that this was only for high end chips.

Yes some lessor value chips are in holders due to the fact that I sent hundreds of different chips to icg so that they could see as many examples as possible.

You mean to tell me that the "experts" at ICG had never seen common chips before? They needed you to send them so that they could see what they looked like?

In the future only high end chips will be slabbed by our company.

You guys were saying that to begin with, I guess now you really mean it.

(a) If I am not mistaken at least one "chipper" started making his own chips and selling them for the real thing. People who collect coins really tend to get upset when they find out that the rare coin they bought at a coin show 20 years ago is a fake.

And how does slabbing prevent that? The only way that slabbing could prevent that is if the "experts" are qualified to determine if a chip is counterfeit (correction -- more qualified than the buyer to determine if the chip is counterfeit). How do you know that the graders have this qualification when ICG refuses to release any information regarding its graders? For all we know the chips are being graded by the counterfeitter. And if the purpose of slabbing is to guarantee that the chip is authentic, why have it graded, why not just have it marked as authentic?

When you have investors or investor/collectors some of them will need assurances. they are not all experts like yourself.

Gee, you've decided I'm an expert. I'm flattered but I never considered myself an expert. But I do know where to go to get expert opinions. You say they will need assurances and I ask you what do they need assurances of? That a chip is in MS65 condition? Since nobody has defined what it is for a chip to be in MS65 condition and the hobby does not operate on that grading scale You can provide assurances all you want but they mean nothing. How is that investor going to feel when he tries to sell that chip he bought 20 years ago at a chip show and he proudly announces to his potential buyer that the chip has been certified to be in AU59 condition and the buyer looks at him and says "What the heck does that mean?"

When people buy antiques the want an experts opinion before they bid half a million for that louis the 14th chair.

When was the last time you saw a slabbed louis the 14th chair? Apparently it must be possible to get an experts opinion without slabbing.

When the day comes that a chip is worth $50,000 do you think everyone is going to take one guys word at a chip show that his chip is not only worth that much but is in fact authentic?

Well isn't that what slabbing is, taking one guys word that the chip is authentic and of a certain condition. Only difference is that with the slabbers we don't even know whose word it is.

The money I make from everyone on the list for all time is the amount I spent at starbucks last month.

Well Mark you are free to lose whatever business you want to. You and I never did business, I never heard of you until this slabbing thing came up. I will say this, since I have heard of you I have seen several auctions of yours which I would have bid on, not many but a few. Your poor sales record of chips on Ebay has already been documented. Now you are selling chips with a $1 minimum bid. Well they will sell, but it looks like they will not bring you the prices you could achieve if you were not a slabber.

Let me ask you a question. To date do you believe that your slabbing chips has helped you earn more money or less money?

Next you tell us that you don't refuse to do business with anybody because of their views, you say "I will discuss my views and listen to theirs." and then the next paragraph you announce that you are not going to even read any responses. Do you even think about what you are saying before you say it?
