What difference does it make if they were the best when they were obtained if they are the best now?

the only one who I believe accelerated through the farm system was El Duque (but he's old so if he spent more time he'd have had to retire). the rest were legitimately products of the Yankee minor leagues.

I personally saw Petitte and Jeter (and I think maybe Posada) playing AA ball in Albany over multiple seasons prior to there being called up. I also didn't think either of them would make it to the big leagues so I'm not much of a scout.
