Re: ....just wondering....
In Response To: ....just wondering.... ()

Thank you for the opportunity to answer some quesions and provide some info about us....

First Question:

Who am/are I/we?

We are not chip collectors, We are not chip traders. Rather, we are helping a chip collector (and card carrying member of the club) to raise money by disposing of a part of his casino collection.

He sends us the chips and we sell them. He does this because he does not want any of his friends and/or fellow collectors to be angry at him or asking for special favors when it comes to a particular chip or group of chips. He feels that, while selling chips on e-bay may not reap the greatest profit for him, it is the most fair way to dispose of his chips. It is public, there are no behind the scene deals and everyone is free to bid on them.

Second Question:

Not long after we started selling these chips, we received the following e-mail from Mr. Campiglia:

"I like your layout for selling chips! I wrote the US Casino Chip Price Guide you are referring to. Glad to see you using it. So many use Chip Rack. Hope my info. helps enhance your sales......"

Thanks,
James Campiglia

So, as we see it, there is no problem using the format that we do. We also feel that using the guide info on our auction pages gives new collectors and potential buyers of the book an idea of the information available there.

As for the chips and auctions.

* We are not chip experts, so we do not try to grade the chips. Instead every chip that we list has a scan (front and back) of the chip we are selling. The e-bay listing has a reduced size image but there are links to a bigger versions of the scan so you can see what you are bidding on. Feel free to download the pictures and use whatever method you want to enhance the details of the chip. We try to post the best scan we can, we want the potential buyers to be able to grade the chips themselves.

* The only "reserve" on the chips we list is the opening bid. Opening bids are well below the value of the chip as listed in the US Chip Guide or on websites that sell chips. In the past we provided links to some other sites, but e-bay has prohibited that practice.

We see lots of people listing chips with "NO RESERVE" but a $200 opening bid... doesn't this really mean that the reserve is $200? If an auction was truly "no reserve" the opening bid would be $0.01.

* Shipping is only $2.00 (unless you decide to send priority or insured). The chips are wrapped in a mylar lined coin holder, taped on 4 sides, put between 2 pieces of cardboard, sealed in an envelope and wrapped in tape.

* If you want to know if you can trust us, check the feedback listed about our prior auctions.

42 positive remarks from 31 different buyers.

We understand that this can be an expensive hobby. So, in an effort to help you budget, we try to tell (thru links on the web page) what chips we will be listing next.

Our only reason for posting on this public message board is to tell you, the serious collectors, that the chips are being made available.
