You're right, Greg, they are different chips. Different quality for sure. However, to me, 'mold' refers to the design placed on the rim of the chip during manufacture. It can be either incuse as on most Paul-son chips or flush and made up of a different color plastic as on many Bud Jones chips. The Langworthy chips posted in this thread are 'plain mold' in that there is no pattern on the rim.

I guess you could broaden the concept of mold to include the 'dashed circle' on the chip you show as a different mold design, but I don't think most collectors would think of it that way.

Maybe Archie's chipper's dictionary will cover this distinction.
