Sincere Question for CGI or grading enthusiasts

This is NOT a trick or a test... but plain curiosity for me.

I am the open-minded sort - and although I am opposed to slabbing (I feel it is unnecessary and the application is unrealistic when applied to chips - there is no such thing as a "true mint chip" - and "tiny minor defects" such as "bag marks" do not SIGNIFICANTLY decrease their value as they would in coins...)

REGARDLESS of my being opposed, I am still curious about some things.

If I were to send you this chip (shown in scan)- and for the sake of argument since it would be unreasonable for me to expect anyone to "grade" an item without actually seeing it... let's pretend we agree it has a solid grade of MS70. (new/ uncirculated/ no apparent defects...etc...) -

1. What would you charge to grade and slab the chip?

2. What would the value be assessed at?

3. What could I expect to pay if I purchased the chip - slabbed - and graded?

4. Do organizations like CGI sell chips? or do they just grade them? By this I mean - do companies that grade also market in sales in addition to services?

Just wondering...
Thanks for humoring this "dumb girl chipper" with no clue STILL what all the controversy is about grin
