John, I have seen at least 5 different UFC's with an S or an SC being sold as Sportsman Club, Newport. None are. I am sure you know where the scanned chip is from. I bought this set at the FQ's/Aikman/Rodgers show in 1995. It had Newport, KY, 1940's on the 2X2. I knew it wasn't but wanted the set. BTW, the seller knew it wasn't either, IMO. The point is everyone that has a chip with anything close to matching, tries to sell it as Newport.

Short version. it is a coil that is placed in the crap table. The operator has a remote control in his pocket. The shooter goes on a good roll. The numbers are all covered. A small press of a button, INSTANT 7.

Portable crap joints was worn around the waist. A drunk would set around a bar wearing one. The hustler would hustle a crap game. After the Marks were cleaned out, the hustler would say goodby and the drunk would stagger out.
Brownie Noel once told me could throw the dice out a window into the alley and make them come up 7, if the joint wearer was placed, just right, close to the window.

Sorry, one more story.
When Screw opened the Sportsman in the mid 60's, a local hothead by the name of Corky Freckman shot the dice on a regular basis. He never figured out what was happening but he never won. In flustration, he finally raised a ruckus. Of course he was bounced down the 2nd floor steps and out the back door. Corky went to the car and got an automatic rifle. He emptied several clips into the front of the Sportsman before the cops arrived.

The game never stopped as there was no windows in the room on the 2nd floor.
