Re: Slabbing - The death of our club?

"What will stop Slabbing comp. buying complete runs of chips grade & slab charging 20.00 what can be acquired for face + a small mark up from the new issue services."

To be honest, that is one of the concerns that I have. This, however, is more related to another issue here on the chip board about some connected individuals, brokers and dealers getting an unfair advantage by having chips held for them at the cage. Then they get in line and get even more. As much as I want a certain chip or token, I still have the will power and good senses to pass on a release rather than pay huge artificially inflated prices. I will not patronize people who I know engage in those practices. Likewise, to answer your question, The first time a slabbing company corners the market on a release and slabs them all, they will learn fast if, as we have already done with hoarded chips,we stay away and they get stuck with the inventory. My questions would be, What if some dealer or Slab Company is sitting on $500 (100) or so worth of a release and no one wants to buy them because they are all slabbed? Will they just sit on them for eternity? Will the casios take a chip back for face if it is slabbed? Will the slabbers have to crack the plastic cases off the chips and come back down to earth with their prices?

I personally will not buy any of these chips and while it will be very dissappointing if they were to slab an entire popular release. I will just have to not get that one. As I see it there will be plenty more. If they keep doing it and I can no longer get LEs? I will just stop collecting LEs. I will be very unhappy but what else can I say. I will just have to go back to getting my chips the old fashoned way. At the tables. Maybe the money I save from buying them all on line will allow me to go to Las Vegas an extra time every year. Or I can go to the boats here in Chicago and trade to others. That is why I hope that this issue does not drive a wedge between us all in the CC>CC. We need to keep together to preserve our hobby.
