I'll be damned, the Mayflower man!

As a lot of you know, I'll be moving next week. This afternoon a surveyer from the Mayflower moving co. came over to see how many vaults I was going to need because everything is going into storage until I can move into the new place....somehow we got on the topic of old cars (Ralph, you reading this?).....he buys old cars, restores them and then sells them....so he's telling me all about an old corvette he has all fixed up ready to sell....he mentions that he is taking it to Reno's Hot August Nights....so we talk about that...I mention that I might go and try to pick up some of the HAN chips....he tells me that he has a bunch of those! So now the coversation switches from cars to casino chips....he grew up in LA so when he turned 21 he went to Las Vegas....and over the years he brought home chips from various casinos....he said that he was thinking about getting rid of them....mostly because he didn't have any way to display them! So now the boxes start getting ripped open! I show him the chip frames that I have....he says, "Wow!" and thinks maybe he might keep them now that he knows there are chip frames out there....but most likely, he will get rid of the old ones.....(yes! I said to myself!) We plan to stay in touch.....he is going to dig out the old chips he has and send me scans....he said he has old fractionals from the Landmark!

Anyway, it just goes to show you that you can find chip collectors in the darndest places! grin

P.S. The car he is selling is a '63 corvette sting ray....so I show him the Four Queens chip below and ask him if that is his car....I remember there was some talk that it was not a '63...seems to me Jim Reilly had that year and said it wasn't right. Anyway, the car on the chip, he believed, was the '63 and was the same color as his....so of course, Katie gives him the chip....
