Good Point Gene, yet...

the chips shown below are not coin inlays - they are more like a lead slug.
The chips in the left column show the inlay, while the same chip "other" side is shown in the column on the right with the inlay removed...

The image below (from CHIPOLOTY 201) shows a couple of different coin (or disk) inlays:

The chips above show the coin (or disk) inlays without having to remove the inlay or X-raying the chip.

The image below (from CHIPOLOGY 201) shows the same Christy & Jones chip in the top image, along with a Riviera 50c chip and an X-ray of the sam chip - both exhibit the metal in the inlay area.

The other common type of metal inlay are shown below in the image below (also from CHIPOLOGY 201), again here the metal inlays are shown without removing the inlay.
