The new multi hand games give you an opportunity to hit more royals, but with a larger investment.
If you play 50 hands per spin, you cut the playing time to a royal (on average) to less than 2 hours. This is really a way to smooth out the wild swings that some of the games have (cut the standard deviation). If you play 5c machines and 50 hands per spin, with max coin, you are playing a $2.50 machine in terms of coin handled, but when you hit, you get paid at the rate for a 5c machine.

So you take your choice, less frequent but bigger jackpots, or more freqent but smaller jackpots, and less scary swings in your bankroll. The machine is still about a break-even game (if it's a 10/7 payout schedule) and you will end up with the casino's rebate and comps as compensation for you time at learning play-strategy and pushing buttons.
