Promo Tokens and Training Chips
In Response To: TRIP REPORT: Too Many Miles! ()

At Chip-In in Upper Michigan, the newsletter has a monthly coupon good for either a couple of $5 matchplay chips or a roll of "quicksilver slot tokens." I was going to get the chips, but was handed a pair of coupons instead, as the cashier said they had run out of chips and the coupons were filling in until they get more chips in. This summer I will have to see if they get in a re-order of the same promo chip or something new, since the old promo chips dated back to before they switched their business to Chipco. The tokens are a quarter sized item used in a special bank of machines. It has the Island logo and 25c one one side, the indian at the campfire that the tribe uses at its logo with "Keeper of the Fire" and "Potowatomi" on the other side.
At Lac Vieux Desert in Watersmeet, MI, they have an offer in the gas station with free tokens or chips if you buy gas. I gassed up and got a couple of the purple blackjack chips, but the alternative was a couple little rolls of promo tokens for their special machines. As I passed the machines, there was a stern notice that said anyone taking the tokens out of the casino would see the tokens confiscated and the player banned from all future promo offers. The sign mentions the casino had purchased 50,000 of these tokens and the management is tired of them disappearing!
At Bad River in Odanah, WI (near Lake Superior, way up north) at the players booth, they offer a roll of 20 dollar size brass tokens per month to players who put 70 points on their card or new sign-ups. The lady gave me a roll because I hadn't been there in so long. I played most, kept a couple.
At Black Bear in Carlton, the blackjack area had a training table that wasn't open that Saturday evening when I was there, but I looked it over. In the chip rack were white chips with a colored design on them in a sort of sunburst look. I don't recall how many types there were, but they had varied colors and amounts (1,5,25 at least) and said "Black Bear Training Table" on them. As you read this, Greg Susong is probably driving from Kansas to Minnesota...
