Re: My 2 cents on slabbing etc.

No, I am not a member of the club but have and am considering joining. I like to collect Las Vegas chips and other gaming memorabilia. I have a nice piece of slot glass and am waiting on a cool roulette felt. Anything that represents the charm and excitement that I experience whenever I visit. Headliners Historical figures Famous places Events or Holidays. I do make exceptions for anything that looks unique or that strikes me as something I have to have.

I do not have anything to do with slabbing or grading and am not interested in it myself. But to each his own. As long as I can have fair and equal access to the collectable myself. That is why I got out of baseball cards and 1/18 Nascar Diecast. The good stuff is immediately scarfed up by secondary market dealers and sold at several times their original cost. It drives people like me out. I just, personally, don't see slabbing or grading as the real problem. I just feel that attention should be focused more on the real problems of hoarding etc.

One thing that concerns me about the MM chips is the suggestion that a slabber could have grabbed many and graded and slabbed them. After all, where did slabbing start. One of the places was with Sports cards and collectables. Might not be true but I wouldn't be surprised to see some surface encased with a hollogram on the sports collectable market or a home shopping cable channel.

Finally, as long as those of us in the hobby continue to realize that you do not have to have that encased and graded chip to enjoy it there will always be value to our chips.

Do what you want with your chips but don't deny me mine! Good Luck Bill
