This is our annual venture out of cyberspace into the Real World in which we get together to meet our most favorite/notorious Usenet personalities face-to-face, participate in several BARGE-private events, and generally blow off steam (not hard to do in Las Vegas in August).
As is our tradition, BARGE 2000 will be centered around the first full weekend of August. Here's what is going on:

At 12noon on Thursday, BARGE will kick-off with a History of Poker Tournament at Binion's. The entry fee is $50. Of this fee, $38 will go to the prize pool, $10 will go to the house, and $2 will go to the dealers. This tournament will consist of three games played in rotation: 5-Card Stud, A-5 Lowball, and 5-Card Draw. This will be a Tournament of Champions qualifier.

The first BARGE social event will be on Thursday, August 2 at 5:30pm. It's a dinner at The Mirage buffet. For $19 the folks at the Mirage give us a private area where we can feast together.

Friday at 12:00noon will be the BARGE TOC-Style Poker Tournament at Binion's. The cost of this event is $50. Of this fee, $38 will go into the prize pool, $10 will go to the house, and $2 will go to the dealers. This event will be patterned after the Tournament of Champions but open to all comers, with the following three games played in rotation: Limit Texas Hold'em, Limit 7-Card Stud, and Limit Omaha-8. The final table will play No-Limit Hold'em. This will be a Tournament of Champions qualifier.

Friday evening at 6:00pm will be our symposium. Snacks will be included but the bar will be no-host. The symposium will feature our Calcutta/parimutuel gaming for our centerpiece event, the no-limit Texas Hold'em poker tournament.

Saturday at 10:00am will be our no-limit Texas Hold'em poker tournament at Binion's. The cost of this event is $70. Of this fee, $57 will go into the prize pool, $10 will go to the house, and $3 will go to the dealers. The BARGE 2000 Hold'em champion also wins the honor of designing and marketing the BARGE 2001 chips, and retails a free momento chip set from the BARGE 2001 chips. This will be a Tournament of Champions qualifier.

Saturday evening at 8 PM will be the BARGE banquet. This will be at a sit-down dinner, in a private dining room and will cost $37. There will be a brief awards ceremony for the winners of the various tournaments.
