Archie, yes I know the Turning Stone chip is not rare. Last year I pulled two off the tables there.

My point is that misuse of the word Rare is a minor offense. In and of itself it is not truly misleading.

The reason is is not misleading is that in this context nobody is actually being fooled.

And if you disagree and tell me that you believe that a bidder might truly believe that this chip is rare, then you must accept the possibility that the Seller honestly thought it was rare.

In fact, a seller is more likely to be a non collector than is a buyer, thus it is actually more likely that the Seller doesn't know that the chip is not rare then that the buyer is being mislead.

And of course this chip is easy, but there may be other chips which you and I might disagree about whether the word Rare is appropriate.
