Jim; I was simply going to ignore your post and not respond, but much has come to the fore since yesterday's news. Now let the club officers "get it." I don't agree that two club officers should have taken it upon themselves to grant permission to a casino to undertake what evidently is about to transpire without consulting with the rest of the Board.... which to me is a bigger issue.

But let's say the vote was 5-0 in favor. Who says that those who are NOT in attendance at the convention are guaranteed anything anyhow of that which is controlled exclusively by a casino?

On the other hand, putting aside the two member Board vote on this issue for the moment ... this is a promotion intended for convention-goers that was made between a commercial casino enterprise and our club officers ... intended as a perk for convention goers only. Maybe the folks back home may have to pick up a set on ebay.... I don't know. In order to take advantage of a free buffet offer, one has to be there to get it. One can't mail the buffet back home to friends and relatives simply because they want one. There are no guarantees in life. Provisions are being made to accomodate those who are in attendance... not the "wish I had's". I've been to lots of organizational functions in my lifetime where maybe only those who attended a banquet for example got the much sought after souvenir of the occassion.... not the whole world who wasn't there.

From what I've read on the bulletin boards, some reasonable accomodations are being made to increase the supply so that additional chip sets over the previously announced 750 will be made available to those in attendance. Steps have been taken to restrict sales to one set per person. Will there be some abuses? Probably. Nothing ever goes as planned. This is not a set that is being distributed for new issue dealer resale from my understanding. Nor is it a set that has the potential to be "locked up" by a few individuals ... that's IF the one set per person policy is strictly observed. It's a set intended for chip collectors, not investors or for dealers to re-sell. Is everybody happy with this arrangement? Hell no. Would everybody be happier if the whole plan was scrapped and nobody got anything? Probably not. I understand through the grapevine that other "collectibles" are being planned for release from another property in town through a different Chapter's activity. You may want to ask your two elected representatives more about that issue as well.

I can't answer the Chapter issues you've raised. Best take that up with your two elected representatives who authorized this whole mess and the Chapter President who contacted the casino.

I still believe that the time has come that the club should cut loose it's Chapters now that it is no longer a requirement for individual Chapter members to belong to CC & GTCC and let them operate as independent clubs. But that's another issue for another time.
