Hi Jim,

The frosting is quite normal.

In the process of striking the planchets, the dies are frequently removed and polished. As the number of presses between polishes increases, frosting occurs. I have been told, but haven't been able to verify, that the polishing occurs three times during a run of 250.

Some collectors prize the frosted strikes and some consider them to be a variety.
