"59% is pretty significant, There was no mandate when the Board abandoned the old rule. Certainly the New Board should take into consideration the clear majority of those who felt the issue was important enough to vote on."

Less than half of the active membership voted on the amendment, period. Read that however you want.

"Since the people never voted for the abandonment of the old rule they must not have wanted to abandon the old rule."

The old rule WASN'T voted on by the membership before it was made a bylaw in the first place!
