In 1983, I had contact with a very distinguished older lady in Marin Co., CA. She was a niece of Tony Carnero Strella, the owner of the Tango and the SS Rex. She sold me the last box of SS Rex $5 chips that she had. She had sold a couple boxes of Rex & Tango to a jeweler friend. This jeweler altered the chips for jewelry, taking off inlays on one side and replacing them with good luck items. He then put them in bezels and attached a gold chain.
