Ginsburg's Universal Numbering System...
In Response To: Numbering system ()

... is one excellent numbering system currently in
use (that you may want to examine to get some ideas). The "GUN Numbering System" (published) is made up of two components: (a) a "Base Number" which is used
in every day description of the gaming instrument,
and (b) the "Extended Number" which is used when
cataloging the gaming instrument in the larger World
of gaming instruments.

This system was designed to include ALL forms of
gaming devises, including chips, checks, tokens,
jetons, plaques, poker chips, imitation chips,
advertising chips, LE chips and more.

The "Base Number" including a single letter to
indicate regular or standard usage; Limited Edition
or Commemorative; no cash value; Roulettes and so on.

The "Extended Number" has a purpose in
distinguishing a gaming instrument from other
instruments from other jurisdictins which may have a
similar name "Base Number" - a simple prefix to the
"Base Number" can be utilized to further
differentiate and distinguish the particular item to
include City, Department and of course Mold Design,
composition, construction and of course size where (mm would be best) one
casino can have the same exact chip color, design but in several sizes (I've seen as many as six). The problems can come in when listing Roulette jetons and plaques where as many as 12-dsigns/sizes (all the same color) are used.

The study of casino gaming chips is not an easy one,
especially when branching out from the basic.

Good luck.
