Jim; Thanks for taking the time and doing alot of legwork that others could be doing to educate themselves on the slabbing discussion. The specific examples you have brought to our attention are only a few. One could search for virtually any other coin that was struck by the U.S. Mint this year and find similar examples. I didn't look too deeply into the list, but here is a proof Kennedy half dollar that was struck this year that was removed from a proof set and submitted to the graders and slabbed as PR69. It is currently bid at $24.50. The other denomination coins that were in that same proof set that came directly from the mint, in all probability have been submitted for grading and slabbing as well.
