Same old anti-union line Bob. Nothing new. Union people have heard it all before. If you are happy with the quality of your life, that's all that matters... or should matter to you. What do you care that I made my living as a proud union man for 40 years? I'm happy and at peace with myself with the contributions and sacrifices that I've personally made in my small way to the union movement and I hope that what unions have gained for their workers, other unorganized Americans have benefitted. Like you, we union people have a standard line too, Bob.

The fact is, many of those large corporations you mentioned HAD TO offer those wonderful benefits and incentives, because in many cases unions had gotten similar gains for their members in other corporations where there was a strong union presence.

In other words Bob, those companies HAD TO MEET THE COMPETITION (the unions) to keep peace and stability if they wanted to secure an adequate work force to seek employment from them. In many cases, in order to keep the unions out, the corporations needed to EXCEED what unions had obtained for their membership in other industries. If it were not for the gains that unions had gotten, there would have been no need for those companies to be so benevolent.

Bob, you cited, "Fast food resaurants are offering several dollars over minimum wage with health benefits to unskilled beginning employees to start." Absolutely right! You've just proved my point. Everytime the minimum wage is raised, (through lobbying by labor organizations) the country hears how it's going to put these companies out of business! The fact is, virtually every business in the country has Help Wanted signs posted.... at significantly higher wages than the minimums that the anti-labor crowd traditionally decries.

But back to the point at hand. You still have not explained why you insist on dragging your anti-union venom into posts I've made that have had no reference to unions or unionism. Do I occupy that much wasted space in your head? Let it go Bob. It's destroying you. Live and let live.
